As Jazz's unit worked on Megatron's virus, Sideswipe followed Optimus Prime to San Francisco for the last battle against Megatron and his Decepticons. Prime Directive #4 When Superion was taken down, Sideswipe and Sunstreaker heroically (though foolishly) charged at Devastator, and they were smashed between the giant Constructicon's palms for their trouble. After Optimus Prime brought Devastator down with a blast to the head, Sideswipe was restrained by the surviving Decepticons. Prime Directive #5 However, through human intervention, Optimus Prime freed his Autobots and the battle was rejoined. Sideswipe tag-teamed with his brother to pummel Soundwave, though the Decepticons eventually escaped when Superion sacrificed his life to save the city from General Hallo's unauthorized nuclear missile launch. The Targetmasters are a subset of Transformers binary-bonded to smaller partners, who transform into their weapons. The partner is often an organic life form that has been bio-engineered to be partly mechanical, or wears a suit of armor that transforms around them to become the weapon.Slumped miserably on the barren surface of Master in their smallest robot forms, Chromedome, Fortress and Highbrow's attention was caught when a time-travelling spaceship materialized over their heads and crashed nearby. By studying and reverse-engineering the technology found in this spaceship, Fortress and the scientists of Master invented Transtectors and the Headmaster process. Kiss Players #48 Sparkbots Volume 3 Super-God Masterforce Master File Pointblank includes " Autobot Peacemaker" as a Targetmaster, featuring a newer, simplified mold compared to the previous Legends Targetmaster and Siege Battle Master molds, that transforms in 2 steps. As all figures involved share the 5mm peg standard, Peacemaker can be swapped with his slightly more articulated Legends iteration. The Targetmaster process was further expanded upon on the planet Nebulon. This would allow organic humanoids, not just mechanoids, to function as weapons when adorned with removable armor. The strength and endurance of these modified beings were greatly enhanced, though their appearance does not change. Like the other new-for-1987 Targetmasters, the head design for Crosshairs was based on early design concepts, [2] where he had one of the more unique mouthplate designs in Generation 1. Pointblank later would become a legendary veteran soldier rumored to have defeated hundreds of Decepticons. According to Pointblank himself, his small team of Crosshairs, Sureshot, and himself have speed and power unlike any other Transformer. He also did not like it that Wheelie considered him a friend. (Can we blame him?) Skullgrin is okay. It looks like they merged the inner robot with the outer shell as it has aspects of both in the robot mode. I just wish he was purple like the G1 and PotP versions and not the dark red again like the Generations version. I still think it's going to be difficult to beat that older Generations version though. Sureshot's character model (to be precise, his Japanese one from The Headmasters rather than his Western one) was recolored and used in Armada to make the " arrogant Autobot officer".
