Description

In other old English traditions when port is decantered, commonly at the dining table, the whole bottle should be finished in one sitting by the diners, and the table should not be vacated until this is done. The estate is composed of Quinta dos Malvedos (89ha), Quinta das Lages (71ha), Quinta do Vale de Malhadas (32ha), Quinta da Vila Velha (56ha) and Quinta do Tua (28ha). With a light, orange-tinted amber colour, the nose shows an array of dried fruits aromas while the palate displays mature and concentrated honeyed fruit. An interesting feature of this vineyard is this – it is the only region in the world, which produces authentic Port wines. Background: As one of the last Port companies with its own cooperage team, tending to each cask individually, GRAHAM's masters the art of making 30 Years Old Tawnies.

Red port can be made from many types of grapes (castas), but the main ones are Tinta Barroca, Tinta Cão, Tinta Roriz (Tempranillo), Touriga Francesa, and Touriga Nacional. I've used Eton Vintners for many years and have always found the staff unfailingly helpful and wise. It has a deep amber color and a bouquet of aromas that include nutty, caramel, and dried fruit notes, with hints of toffee, chocolate, and oak.TIME-HONOURED skills, craftsmanship and dedication are handed down from generation to generation at GRAHAM’S in the form of three unique arts – the art of blending, the art of cooperage and the art of ageing – to produce an extraordinary selection of Tawny Ports. Graham’s Port is a legendary Port winery that has gained an amazing international reputation over almost two centuries of history, and this is down to the quality of their fortified wines that are made with the utmost care and using artisan methods to preserve and enhance their qualities. We can't offer refunds or exchanges on perishable goods such as flowers and food, unless faulty or not as described. In contrast to vintage port's short time in barrel, LBV port is aged between four to six years in barrel, to mature it more quickly.

Yalumba has released a 50 year old tawny and Hardy's Whiskers Blake, Rosemount's Old Benson and Galway Pipe are also made in the traditional manner. While it is by far the most renowned type of port, from a volume and revenue standpoint vintage port actually makes up a small percentage of the production of a typical port house. There is rarely universal agreement on the quality of the wine produced from a given year, and in some years a single producer may be alone in declaring a vintage. unless we get written confirmation from you that this is acceptable and that you will take full responsibilty if the parcel goes missing. All of Graham’s Tawny Ports have their own individual characteristics, the complex flavours and aromas that pervade each of these unique wines have been developed through selecting only our top quality wines from Graham’s four spectacular Quinta’s in the Douro Valley to age in seasoned oak casks in our 1890 Lodge in Vila Nova de Gaia. Unfiltered or ""Traditional"" LBV ports require decanting like vintage ports do, and may improve in the bottle. Owned by the Symington’s since 1970, Graham’s is the only remaining British Port company independently owned by a single family.

Aged tawny port is a blend of several vintages, with the average years ""in wood"" stated on the label: 10, 15, 20, and 30 years are common. The 30 Year Old wines are very serious indeed, showing immense structure and a range of dried fruit and nut flavours. The wine's contact with the wood of the cask works hand-in-hand with time to create one of the world's greatest wines.
