The gadgets he currently uses on a daily basis are the Google Pixel 6, Oppo Watch, Sony WH-1000XM4s, the MacBook Pro, and the Onyx Boox Nova Air. Google Stadia's game list has been growing steadily over the course of the year, and now includes giants like Cyberpunk 2077, Assassin's Creed Valhalla, Red Dead Redemption 2, Hitman 3 and more. That being said, Google Stadia worked on 10Mbps connections and only requires 35Mbps for full 4K HDR/60fps. The games I’ve played all feel like I’m playing them on a dedicated device in my home, and I have encountered few issues. At one time, you could only access Stadia through a Stadia Pro subscription, but that requirement has since been lifted.

On top of all that, Google was kind enough to send over the Google Stadia Founders Edition – which is the same as the currently available Premiere edition – and we have all the details for you below, including whether this product is worth your investment! There are pros and cons to all three of the ways to access the streaming service which we’ll cover in the performance section below, but Google has done a phenomenal job of getting the controller to pair with all three access points, allowing you to jump between them pretty seamlessly. There were very minor differences in terms of the packages - the Founders Edition comes with a Blue Stadia Controller, while Premiere Edition has a white one and the Founders Edition comes with a free 30-day trial for a friend - but both editions had a controller, a Chromecast Ultra and a three-month subscription to Stadia Pro. Many folks nabbed the Chromecast when it first launched, and I’m actually a tad shocked at the number of individuals who don’t own the Ultra version.

I haven't experienced any input lag yet when using the controller with the Chromecast and It feels like using a conventional console without a huge box gathering dust. I had a game session completely fail on me once while playing, dropping me back to the Stadia home screen on the TV.

Even more frustrating is that Google no longer sells the Chromecast Ultra by itself, but it is available in a bundle with a Stadia controller. Managing Editor Josh Goldman is a laptop expert and has been writing about and reviewing them since built-in Wi-Fi was an optional feature. Another weird caveat is that Stadia doesn't work well on office connections - so if that's where you're planning on streaming, you might want to reconsider your purchase. That's where the Premiere Edition bundle comes in - you can save some cash on both of these items bundled in together.

On the bright side, the Chromecast is still quite useful, although I'm not personally using it and haven't found someone to give mine to. The controller can be paired to another Wi-Fi network, but it must be re-paired to a new network every time, which is a pain. For as much as Google positions Stadia as a competitor to Sony and Microsoft, in a way it really is trying to go in a unique direction. It's genuinely sad that some manager or team went to all the trouble of getting the budget for this hardware promotion, but couldn't or didn't reset the free trial for the Google accounts of the recipients.
