it matches the yellow pictured box and bottle, though the bottle i tested hasnt got all the other writing on it. When I was growing up, we had a small bottle of l'air du Temps on the vanity counter where my sisters and I would do our hair and makeup in the mornings. The benzoin suffocated the flower bouquet, which was either way dominated by lily and a very dry lilac. LdT begins with the strong scent of aldehydes but then the mingled warmth of carnations and clove along with the gentle soapiness of white florals wafts up in an intoxicating mix. There’s been many times my clothes have smelled of this perfume after giving gran a hug or my son has come home from visiting her and his scarf will smell like this because she’s stolen some bear hugs.

Is it just because I know she was a teenager/young woman when this was released and I can just imagine her popping into Boots the chemist or Woolworths for a bottle? It’s perfect in winter with the spiciness and warm amber, but also perfect in summer when the flowers just shine. That said, sure this is a really soapy aldehyde perfume, but it not dirty, dark, skanky, or any of that.i largely agree with her — it's mostly a well-done clean powdery-soapy accord, with a lovely orris-iris butteriness, but almost no lasting power. As the very first spicy-floral fragrance in the history of perfume, this timeless scent has become a veritable olfactive icon. I get a lot of lily, despite its absence from the notes listed, and some citrus thanks to the neroli and bergamot. Yes, but I don't think at the office more on holidays or vacations because it's the kind of sophisticated, white, translucent perfume that relaxes you. The rusty-fish bloody smell was baffling until I came across an article here on Fragrantica explaining how some fats in scents oxidise (they referred to ''bloody aldehydes'') and cause this very scent.

An enigmatic and alluring composition, don't think an unfamiliar nose could appreciate the scent but they would certainly like it because it's quite pleasing (at least it's on me), I'm unable to put my finger on this fragrance's character; a woman with grace (so many women), but a man with a romantic mind and tender eyes could carry it so perfectly as well. Can imagine people being crazy about it in the past and can imagine someone loving it now - I don't think it's dated. It's very floral and perhaps old-fashioned, but the notes seem to combine to form a scent like warm skin or breath.
